How we work

Agile & Delivery Model

We follow agile methodologies with structured sprints, ceremonies, and release processes. For detailed information, see our Definition of Done documentation.

Communication Tools & Practices

Microsoft Teams: Our primary communication platform. Use channels effectively and keep discussions focused
Email: Reserved for formal communications and important announcements
Async vs Sync: We prioritize asynchronous communication to support flexible working across time zones

Confluence: General R&D documentation is maintained in our Development Confluence space
Developer Portal: This portal (where you're reading now) contains our engineering guidelines and standards

Issue Tracking & Project Management

We use Jira for task and project management. Familiarize yourself with our Jira workflows and ticket lifecycle processes.

Tools & Accounts Setup

Make sure you have access to the following essential tools and environments:

Office Account: Used for SSO, emails, Teams, etc. Contact IT if you don't have one
K8s cluster access (if needed)
AWS access (if needed)

GitHub

You will find our code repositories at https://github.com/imtf-group. You will need to register once by connecting your personal GitHub user with your IMTF identity. You can freely decide whether to use your already existing GitHub user or whether to create a new one specifically for IMTF.

Before you start this process may we kindly ask you to update your GitHub profile in a way that your actual name is visible and to activate two-factor authentication? That's part of our security requirements.

The registration itself is not more than going to https://github.com/orgs/imtf-group/sso and following the steps.

Access to repositories

Your access is based on your team membership which again is synchronised from the IMTF Active Directory. As part of the onboarding you will be added to the right AD groups and you should have the required access by now. In case you miss something please approach your manager!

Development Workflow Rules

Every change requires: A Jira ticket and a Pull Request
Code Review Process: Mandatory peer review before merging
Branching Model: Follow our established Git and GitHub Guidelines

Engineering Standards & Conventions

Environment Variables Convention: Standardized naming and usage patterns
Logging Practices: Structured logging standards and best practices
Docker Standards: Container image building and tagging conventions
Build, Test & Deploy Policy: Comprehensive guidelines for building, testing, and deploying applications

Code Quality

Coding Style Guidelines: Team and language-specific rules (see individual repository documentation)

Complete all account setups and access requests
Join relevant Teams channels and introduce yourself
